Sideshow Collectibles: Cobra Commander by FabianMonk Sideshow Collectibles: Cobra Commander by FabianMonk
More key art for the GI JOE 1:6 scale line from Sideshow.
A face close-up seems a bit irrelevant here. Anyway, this is up on Sideshow's website so I figured it was safe to post here.

:wow: This is AWESOME!!! :excited: I might have to get this model if it's anything like this painting. This is just fantastic! Cobra Commander looks menacing and powerful. Even without the eyes visible (most artists choose the hood over the helmet for dramatic poses) I can imagine his ice-cold, menacing stare. The globe is a great touch, as is the snake staff. (He looks like he's gripping the heck out of it. :XD:) And the textures... wow! I could reach out and touch them, they look so lifelike.

Awesome job, man! :highfive: The Commander himself would be proud. :iconcobralogoplz: COOOOBRAAAA!!!

Whoa man thanks!
That sounds like you know a few things about the character! It's always great to get good feedback from someone who is a fan of the subject matter. Means a lot!

The model is posable (and includes the globe and staff, as far as I know), so you could buy it and make it look like this illustration, haha.

Really though, thanks!

No problem! :D

I do... if I say so myself. :giggle: I've been a Joe/Cobra fan for over 10 years, and I've been collecting action figures and the original comics for almost as long.
Once again, I think you nailed the representation of the character! It's just awesome. It can't be said enough.

Oh, cool! :la: Do you happen to know what the exact name of the figure is? I looked at the sideshow site but didn't know which one I should be looking at...

You're most welcome. :handshake:

Oh dude sorry for the late reply!
Here's a www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibl… to the figure on Sideshow's website!

You're right with the hood, by the way. The figure includes a swap-out head, that has the hood. I thought about making the illustration like that as well, but the more research I did, I found what you mentioned, that most iconic pieces already depict him like that. So I wanted to take a stab at deviating from the norm.
Again, thanks a lot for all the kind words! They're definitely appreciated!

Thanks for the link! :D I've so got that figure on my wish list! :eager: I. Must. Have. It!

Okay. I see that now. Very cool! I can see it's got some interchangable hands, too. I'm glad you went for the helmet look instead of the hood. It isn't done enough. :aww:

No prob! Keep up the good work! :highfive: Hey, btw, does a card or a picture of your painting come with the figure or on the packaging?

I'm not actually sure about the GI Joe line, but I know they put my art on the boxes for the DC line. And both are 1:6 scale, so maybe they're treating them similarly in that way too.
Thanks again!

I wish I could come back with some kind of adequate quote, but alas I'm not too familiar with the actual stories.
But, hail. Totally. : ]
