Description

This is a piece I did for an exhibition at a party (which explains the title of the deviation), but mainly for fun. The original idea to do some kind of russian orthodox icon painting came from a friend of mine, who wanted to then screen print this on wood. He still wants to do it, but not in time for the party, so here's the digital version for now.

There's a whole back story to the character, which one might be able to read off of her tattoos, if one is familiar with russian prison tattoos. Or, at least as familiar as one can be after doing some research on the net.

The print format is quite large, so here are some close ups of the tattoos:

Done in Photoshop.
I used a stock texture by :iconsolstock: for the cracked effect on the background, as well as a gold texture by :iconwanderingsoul-stox:.

I looked up the tattoos and came up with this, please tell me if they are wrong:
Tiger= Aggression
Shoulder tattoo= Ranking in the criminal world
Star= Number of years served in prison
Spider Web= Drug addict
Cross= Racist or a hitman
Cat= A thief
Birds flying over the sunset= 'I was born free, I will die free'
Ship= Lust for freedom or a potetial escapee
Barbed wire= Will never be corrected
Hand tattoos= Criminal status
Building= The number of times they have been convicted
Dollar bill= Commitment to crime
Woman= Devotion, fearlessness and cruelty
Skulls= Killer
Roses= 'Death is a preferable fate, than loss of virtue'
Dagger= Revenge against the prosecutor
Hand= ?
and i'm not sure what the writing says either
