And he's still nameless by FabianMonk And he's still nameless by FabianMonk
Also, he clearly doesn't need his eyes.

It's been pretty hectic around these parts lately. Next tuesday, I will be taking a plane to the United States, and take a basically 2 month vacation (which includes SDCC, for those who didn't read the journal and care), and it will be awesome. There's tons of shit I still have to get done before that though, mostly college application related, so stress has been abundant, but WHATEVER because come next tuesday I can officially stop caring. Been bouncing off the walls with excitement here, it's been forever since I visited the states.
Aaaanyway, this is just something done for fun inbetween doing all of those other things. Been doing some experimenting and trying out some new techniques, and this is a result of that.

Software: Photoshop.

Dude, it looks like you made this in 3D Studio Max, very cool! Are you going to school for video game design?

No, I'm currently doing an Art and Design foundation course. After that I plan to move on to Illustration and Animation, with focus on Illustration, but not Game Design.

Name? NAME!? HE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' NAME!

:)

I fully expect for him to use a rubberband or ziptie to keep his collar closed when it finally reaches over the top of his hair.

Great job, mister! I'm convinced you sold your soul to some bridge living troll to gain superior control over lighting. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm a little busy to make a tutorial at this time. I already made two tutorials previously, they're in my gallery. But they are a little out dated.

i think he's better off without a name. it just adds to the cool factor for him. lighting in your pieces is definently what makes your art so dramatic and this piece is no different. and your color schemes make love to my eyeballs. sucks that you made it all on one layer though!

hope your stay in the US is fun. yet another reason i'm going to regret not going to SDCC. le sigh.

he is still nameless... and you are still depressing :P

He almost looks CG. I can definitely tell it is a departure from what we are used to from you (less painterly).
What have you changed in your process?

For this one I didn't build up colors like I used to. In the past I would always gradually build up more and more colors, but I've realised that I can get the same effect by just hinting at more colors being present with dashes of different colors here and there (mostly where light and shadow connect - like that saturated orange on the jacket). Saves a lot of time. Also I tried out a more smooth, less painterly way of rendering. Couple of other things changed as well, but not anything major.
Also I painted this entirely on one layer, which, as it turned out, was pretty fucking stupid because now changing the background is a huge chore.

Thanks for the comment!
